Kiriazi freezer repair: chest, upright and 6-drawer No Frost
Book a technicianKiriazi freezers come as chest or upright models. Chest models such as the KH338CF hold about 338 litres with a digital panel and fast freeze; they are manual defrost, so ice inside is normal and needs melting from time to time. Upright No Frost drawer models such as the KH256VF hold 270 litres. Our independent repair service inspects both types at your home.

Kiriazi freezer models: KH338CF, KH256VF and KH235VF
| Model | Type | Note |
|---|---|---|
| KH338CF | Digital chest | About 338 L, fast freeze, manual defrost |
| KH256VF | Upright No Frost, 6 drawers | 270 L |
| KH235VF | Upright, 5 drawers | Capacity on the appliance label |
| Comparison | Chest freezer | Upright No Frost freezer |
|---|---|---|
| Cooling system | Defrost | No Frost with drawers |
| Defrosting | Manual, from time to time | Automatic defrost cycle |
| Ice | Normal, needs melting | A fault sign if it forms on the wall behind the drawers |
| Example | KH338CF | KH256VF |
The 6-drawer (KH256VF) and 5-drawer (KH235VF) Kiriazi freezers follow the same inspection order: voltage, then ventilation space, then the seal, and then the defrost circuit.
Before you book a freezer technician: what you can safely try
Before repairing a Kiriazi freezer, try the basics: leave at least about 10 cm between the appliance and the wall on every side, and keep it away from sun and the cooker. In summer, a freezer boxed into a corner keeps running without reaching the set temperature.
On many freezers the condenser sits inside the side walls, so the sides feel warm or hot, which is normal. Check your model's manual; if the sides are hot and freezing is good, there is no problem. If the red light comes on, check the manual for its meaning, as it differs from model to model.
Common Kiriazi freezer faults, their causes and fixes4
The freezer does not freeze well in summer
ModerateWeak freezing in summer: food is soft and the compressor runs constantly. It is one of the most common Kiriazi freezer faults in summer.
Possible causes
- Poor ventilation around the freezer
- A lid seal that does not close properly
- Thick ice in a chest model
- Low voltage
- Low refrigerant or a compressor fault
Solution: Clear ventilation space around it, melt thick ice, and test the seal with a sheet of paper. If freezing is still weak, the technician measures voltage and pressure.
Heavy ice in a chest freezer
EasyIce building up in a chest freezer: a thick layer on the walls and a lid that is hard to close.
Possible causes
- Manual defrosting overdue
- The lid opened often or left half open
- The seal
Solution: Switch it off, empty it and let the ice melt on its own. Do not chip the ice with a knife or melt it with a flame or hair dryer: you could pierce the pipes, and in many freezers the gas inside them is flammable.
Ice in an upright No Frost freezer
ModerateIce in an upright No Frost freezer: ice on the wall behind the drawers and weaker freezing. It is a known fault on Kiriazi 6-drawer No Frost freezers.
Possible causes
- The defrost heater or its sensor
- The freezer fan
- A door that does not close properly
Solution: Empty it and switch it off for a day with the door open so the ice melts; that restores cooling for a while. If the ice returns, the defrost circuit needs checking.
The compressor will not start
ModerateA compressor fault: the panel is lit but there is no motor sound, or a click every so often.
Possible causes
- Low voltage
- The compressor relay or overload
- The compressor itself
Solution: Unplug it for half an hour, then run it from its own socket. If the fault continues, the relay is measured before the compressor. This Kiriazi freezer fault is settled by measuring, not guessing.
Preventive care: regular freezer maintenance2
Check the ice monthly in a chest model
MonthlyCheck it every month, and defrost once it is thicker than about half a centimetre.
Leave space around it
Especially in summer; the heat coming from the sides needs somewhere to go.
